Mobile detailing vs a detailing shop: which is better?

Short answer
For washes, interior details, clay bar and polishing, mobile detailing gets the same result as a shop without you losing half a day to drop-offs. A workshop still wins for ceramic coatings and heavy paint correction, which need a clean, controlled space to cure.
The real advantage is your time
Taking a car to a shop means two trips, a lift or an Uber, and planning your day around it. With mobile I turn up, you hand over the keys and get on with your day. Most of my clients are working inside while I'm out in the driveway.
Is the result as good as a shop?
For washing, interior detailing, clay bar and machine polishing, yes. The products and tools are the same ones a shop uses. What decides the result is who's doing the work and how much time they put in. A roof overhead doesn't change that.
Where a workshop does win
Ceramic coatings have to cure without dust, rain or direct sun landing on them. Heavy paint correction is also easier under proper lighting, where every swirl shows up.
So I split it. Coatings and high-end correction happen at my home workshop in Eltham. Everything else I do on-site at your place. You get the convenience for the everyday stuff and a controlled space for the jobs that need one.
What I need at your place
A tap, a power point, and ideally some shade or a carport. Detailing in full summer sun can leave water spots on the paint, so covered space gets you a better finish.
Who mobile detailing suits
- People who can't spare a morning to drop the car off
- Families whose second car is tied up with school runs
- Anyone in Eltham, Research, Montmorency, Greensborough or the nearby suburbs I cover
If you're in Melbourne's north-east and want the car done without leaving home, book a mobile detail and I'll lock in a time.
