How much does car detailing cost in Melbourne?

By Rishi Babu · 14 October 2026 · 4 min read

Short answer

Interior-only or exterior-only details usually start around $60 to $80. A full inside-and-out detail runs from about $120 to $320 depending on how deep it goes, and ceramic coatings start around $650. The size and condition of the car move the price more than anything else.

My prices, straight up

These are my starting prices for a standard sedan. Bigger or dirtier cars cost more, and I always confirm the price with you before I start.

  • Exterior Refresh: from $60
  • Interior Refresh: from $80
  • Full Refresh (inside and out, about 2 hours): from $120
  • Full Signature (about 3 hours): from $200
  • Full Showroom (about 5 hours): from $320
  • Ceramic coating with machine polish: from $650

What actually changes the price

Two things. How big the car is, and how bad it is.

A seven-seat SUV has a lot more carpet, seats and plastic than a hatch. It takes longer, so it costs more.

Condition matters even more. Dog hair is the big one. It weaves into carpet and can add an hour on its own. Beach sand, drinks spilled weeks ago and a musty smell from a car that's been shut up all push the price up too.

Why some quotes are half the price

You'll see people advertising a "full detail" for $80. Sometimes that means a vacuum and a wipe-down. A proper interior detail with steam cleaning and carpet extraction takes hours, not 40 minutes.

When you compare quotes, ask what's included. Is there a shampoo and extraction? Are the wheel barrels and door jambs cleaned, or just the wheel faces? That's usually where the price difference lives.

Does mobile detailing cost extra?

Not with me. I don't charge to come to you around Eltham and the north-east. Further out there can be a small travel fee, and I'll tell you upfront. I bring the gear and products. You just need a tap and a power point.

The quickest way to get an exact number is to send me a couple of photos of the car. I'll come back with a price, no obligation. Request a quote.
